What exactly is projection mapping?
Projection mapping uses high-powered projectors to display animated visual content directly onto physical surfaces — building facades, walls, columns, or architectural features. The content is custom-designed to follow the exact contours and geometry of the surface, so the imagery looks like it’s part of the building rather than a flat rectangle of projected light. The result is a moving, immersive visual experience.
Can projection mapping be combined with physical lights and music?
Yes — and that’s where it becomes truly immersive. We combine projection mapping with music-synced lightshows, high-density pixel systems, and physical themed builds (arches, tunnels, oversized trees, centerpieces) to create multi-layered experiences. A hotel facade might have projected snowfall while the grounds are lit with choreographed LEDs synced to a holiday soundtrack. The integration is what separates a display from a destination.
What kind of content do you create for projections?
Everything is custom. We design visual content to match your specific surface, brand, event theme, or narrative — animated snowfall, cascading light patterns, brand-story sequences, seasonal scenes, abstract art, or product imagery. No generic stock loops. The content is mapped to every edge and contour of your architecture so it looks intentional, not projected.
Does projection mapping work on any building?
It works best on flat or predictably contoured surfaces with minimal obstructions — light-colored facades are ideal. Darker surfaces, heavily textured walls, or surfaces with a lot of windows require more projector power and careful content design. Glass is generally not a good projection surface. We assess all of this during the site survey and tell you exactly what’s possible before you commit.
How far in advance should I book a projection mapping project?
As early as possible — ideally 3–6 months before the display needs to go live. Content design, surface mapping, equipment sourcing, and calibration all take time, and the best results come from projects with breathing room in the timeline. For a holiday-season display, booking in the spring is ideal. Grand openings and one-night events can move faster depending on scope.
Is projection mapping available for private homes?
Yes, for the right property. A luxury residential estate with a large, visible facade and enough distance between the projector and the surface can support a stunning private projection experience — ideal for holiday parties, milestone celebrations, or homeowners who want something genuinely nobody else on their street has. We’ll assess feasibility during a free consultation.
